BOSTON, MA—On Thursday, January 26th, Boston law firm Davis Malm joined hundreds of lawyers and advocates for the Equal Justice Coalition’s virtual event, “Talk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid.” The Davis Malm contingent was led by associate Courtney A. Simmons. The firm has participated in the in-person Walk to the Hill event every year since 2004, including virtually at the Talk to the Hill event since 2021.
The annual Walk to the Hill, one of the largest lobbying events on Beacon Hill, draws hundreds of lawyers to the State House to request their legislators’ support for civil legal aid funding. Since 2021, the event has been conducted virtually as Talk to the Hill meetings. This year, the Equal Justice Coalition’s legislative funding campaign called on state lawmakers to provide $49 million in funding for civil legal aid in the Commonwealth’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget.
Talk to the Hill is sponsored by the Equal Justice Coalition, a collaboration of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation. The event is co-sponsored by numerous county and specialty bar associations throughout Massachusetts.
