In just two short months, that ocean of controversy is looking a lot more like a puddle. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/music\/news\/drake-withdraws-legal-petition-spotify-umg-kendrick-lamar-not-like-us-1236274649\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Variety<\/a> has coverage:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In a New York filing on Tuesday reviewed by\u00a0<em>Variety<\/em>,\u00a0<a id=\"auto-tag_drake\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/drake\/\" data-tag=\"drake\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Drake<\/a>\u00a0and his Frozen Moments company withdrew its order to show cause seeking pre-action disclosure and preservation of certain documents and communications from both companies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s like someone in Drake\u2019s camp trained him to battle rap the same way that Wimp-Lo-We was taught to fight:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jXIL-yQSv30?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The PR from this withdrawal is so bad<a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/drake-honestly-nevermind\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> that it makes Honestly Nevermind look like a career highlight<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>The next steps for the duck-lipping rapper are headed toward Universal Music\u2019s alleged role in defaming him by allowing Kendrick to release \u201cNot Like Us\u201d and promote the track. I wonder if and when Drake\u2019s team will sue YouTube for platforming \u201cHey, here\u2019s adult Aubrey kissing a 17-year-old on stage\u201d videos.
