The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/americanlawyer\/2025\/01\/28\/diversity-lab-alters-dei-centered-verbiage-on-mansfield-certification-website\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">American Lawyer<\/a> has noted several of these changes, including the removal of language referring to candidate pool quotas, as well as the removal of words within the DEI acronym, which have since been replaced with words like \u201cequal\u201d and \u201cfairness.\u201d Here are just a handful of the other changes that have been made, per Am Law:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>While a section of the Mansfield Certification page saved on Jan. 12 by Internet Archive stated that the \u201cMansfield Difference\u201d helped boost \u201cinclusivity, access and diversity\u201d in leadership roles at participating firms, the Jan. 27 version of the page stated the certification boosted \u201cinclusivity, equal access and transparency in advancement processes and leadership roles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The word \u201cequitable\u201d was removed from the \u201cPurpose\u201d section of the Mansfield Certification page during the same time period, and \u201cdiversity\u201d was removed from \u201cleadership diversity\u201d in a section detailing the expansion of talent pools at law firms.<\/p>\n<p>Diversity Lab\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.diversitylab.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>homepage<\/u><\/a>\u00a0also changed since a Jan. 22\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250122233121\/https:\/\/www.diversitylab.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>snapshot<\/u><\/a>\u00a0from Internet Archive. The first paragraph now omits an entire sentence that previously stated, \u201cThe more diverse the leadership, the more inclusive their decisions for the benefit of their workforces and communities.\u201d The closing line of the same paragraph now reads, \u201cOur north star is fairness.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Although this looks like it was perhaps an effort to de-emphasize the \u201cdivisiveness\u201d of DEI, Diversity Lab founder and CEO Caren Ulrich Stacy chalked the changes up to \u201cnormal website refinements.\u201d Stacy continued, saying that prior to Trump\u2019s Executive Orders concerning \u201cillegal\u201d DEI programming, the site \u201cchanged almost every day,\u201d and that even now, the site will \u201ccontinue to change almost every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What hasn\u2019t changed and won\u2019t change is the Diversity Lab\u2019s bottom line: Stacy notes that \u201c<span>our work remains the same: we are focused on equal access, equal treatment, and equal opportunities.
