That said, not every <em>law firm<\/em> is excited. As <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/legal-ops-and-tech\/fox-rothschild-blocks-deepseeks-ai-model-for-attorney-use\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bloomberg reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Fox Rothschild\u2019s 900-plus attorneys use AI tools and,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/privacy-and-data-security\/chatgpt-tempts-big-law-despite-ai-accuracy-data-privacy-worries\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">like many other firms<\/a>, it doesn\u2019t generally bar its lawyers from using ChatGPT, although it imposes restrictions on the use of AI with client data, Mark G. McCreary, the firm\u2019s chief artificial intelligence and information security officer, said. But DeepSeek, launched by a Chinese investor, poses unique security challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one thing to have a risk that somebody makes a mistake with ChatGPT,\u201d McCreary said. \u201cIt\u2019s a completely different risk for someone to make a mistake with China.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Is it though? Obviously applications with close ties to the Chinese government raise key concerns. It\u2019s why the country banned TikTok before Trump decided he had the unilateral power to unban TikTok over congressional objection. But are firms <em>really<\/em> comfortable with ChatGPT?<\/p>\n<p>At some point any data that worms its way into ChatGPT or Claude or any other consumer-facing AI is going to be accessible to bad actors. Whether its a hacking job or a competitor all of these products come with risks. It\u2019s why so much time and energy is going into the legal-specific offerings from trusted vendors who understand the industry and its ethical and security risks. <\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no reason for anyone to be feeding client information into consumer AI tools.
