There\u2019s a lot that\u2019s unsettling about Donald Trump\u2019s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel. The Pace University School of Law grad has been a proponent of \u201cDeep State\u201d conspiracy theories<\/a> and is rumored to have an enemies list (he denies<\/a> his list of \u201ccorrupt actors\u201d from the \u201cdeep state\u201d is an enemies list as such). He\u2019s proposed deep shakeups<\/a> at the FBI, which House Democrats say<\/a> could \u201cjeopardize our national security, leaving the FBI with no experienced senior leadership and a partisan Trump loyalist heading up the Bureau\u2019s response to increasing security threats from Russia, China, and other authoritarian adversaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

He produced<\/a> a version of the \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d that featured the J6 Prison Choir. Patel threatened <\/a>to go after the media, saying, \u201cWe\u2019re going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections. We\u2019re going to come after you, whether it\u2019s criminally or civilly. We\u2019ll figure that out. But yeah, we\u2019re putting you all on notice.\u201d<\/p>\n

While horrifying, those escapades aren\u2019t quite as bizarre as the trio of children\u2019s books in the Plot Against the King<\/em> series published by Christian publisher\u00a0Brave Books<\/a>. As reported by<\/a> Rebecca Onion at Slate:<\/p>\n

One book fictionalizes Russiagate and the Steele dossier, the second does the same with the 2020 election, and the third covers the Department of Justice\u2019s lawsuits against Donald Trump. In each, the wizard Kash\u2014all-knowing, all-discerning, bearing the sobriquet the \u201cDistinguished Discoverer\u201d\u2014does battle against the enemies of the \u201cmerchant Donald,\u201d who becomes \u201cKing Donald\u201d after the people of the kingdom vote for him on \u201cChoosing Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

These books read like someone fed storylines from the Trump era into an A.I. trained on MAGA posts on social media and gave it the command: \u201cTell this as a medieval story in a slightly funny way.\u201d Democrat Adam Schiff plays a part in books one and three, first as \u201cthe shifty knight,\u201d then a \u201cshifty jester,\u201d and then just as \u201cShifty.\u201d The media are \u201cheralds\u201d who hate King Donald and accept any lie about him that Shifty tells. Hillary Clinton is \u201cHillary Queenton,\u201d Biden is \u201cBaron Von Biden,\u201d Kamala Harris is \u201cComma-la-la-la,\u201d and Mark Zuckerberg \u2014 who gets a cameo thanks to the\u00a0Trumpworld idea<\/a>\u00a0that he participated in the 2020 election fraud \u2014 is \u201cMischievous Metamark.\u201d The DOJ is a \u201cDragon of Jalape\u00f1os,\u201d who gets small as a dog before eating hot peppers, then bigger when he\u2019s fed some, until he breathes fire.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Perhaps we should just appreciate Patel\u2019s honesty in declaring Donald Trump\u2019s desire to be King \u2014 22nd Amendment<\/a> be damned.<\/p>\n
