The University of Pennsylvania Law grad began her legal career at Winston &amp; Strawn but has since left the practice of law. Courville got caught up in the <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/tag\/freebritney\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Free Britney<\/a> movement \u2014 the online activism that agitated for the end of pop star Britney Spears\u2019s conservatorship. And when that passion butted up against her legal work, she dipped out of life as an attorney to try her hand as an influencer.<\/p>\n<p>As she\u2019s said on her platform, \u201cLet\u2019s just say my law tube career and my legal career collided almost immediately, and I chose to leave my first lawyer job after Britney Spears\u2019 manager personally requested I stopped making investigation videos about her on YouTube. And I refused. So I quit, and that sucked. That sucked,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m retiring from the practice of law. Moving forward, I will seek to make more decisions that allow me to experience true freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With 163,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, Courville continues to speak about celebrity conservatorships. Yes, Britney is, in fact <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2021\/10\/the-lawyer-who-freed-britney-spears-has-some-thoughts-on-his-zaddy-status\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">free now<\/a>, but a frequent subject of Courville\u2019s content is\u00a0Lima Jevremovic, who served one year as a court-appointed guardian of Bam Margera, of MTV\u2019s Jackass fame.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/njlawjournal\/2025\/02\/05\/lawyer-wears-funny-ears-when-criticizing-still-sued-for-defamation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported by<\/a> Law.com:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In her discussion of the Margera case, Courville has alleged that Jevremovic has conspired with Margera\u2019s family and friends to gain control of his assets, according to a 2022 suit by Jevremovic. Courville has also suggested Jevremovic was criminally liable in connection with the treatment she provided to a former homeless woman, Amanda Rabb, who died in 2021, the suit claimed. Jevremovic\u2019s suit claims she and her family have had to move multiple times due to death threats from Courville\u2019s followers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Which, has led to some legal issues. Jevremovic filed a lawsuit against Courville alleging the former attorney \u201ccreated a scandal concocting ersatz villains out of Ms. Jevremovi\u0107 and her wellness supplements and healthcare solutions software business, AURA.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But in a series of related cases, U.S. District Judge Zahid Quaraishi\u00a0dismissed them without prejudice, relying on <em>Sciore v. Phung<\/em>, holding that \u201cInternet forums \u2026 conveys a strong signal to a reasonable reader that the statements are defendant\u2019s opinion\u201d and are given \u201cless credence\u201d than \u201csimilar remarks made in other contexts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Corville\u2019s attire played a role in his thinking:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The judge noted that Courville, when speaking on her videos, \u201ccan be seen wearing either panda ears or bunny ears while making her statements, while a sparkly unicorn pi\u00f1ata rests prominently in the background.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Courville calls herself a \u201clegal edutainer,\u201d and refers to her opinions about Margera and Jeremovic as mere \u201ctheories,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jevremovic is currently on the fourth amended complaint, and the pleadings on Corville\u2019s motion to dismiss are ongoing. But Jeremovic is determined to chart out how defamation works online: <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Boiling down the defamatory statements against Jeremovic is difficult because Corville made \u201chour after hour\u201d of claims, \u201cexcept to say that Ms. Jeremovic is the devil incarnate, trying to steal money and take advantage of people with addiction problems,\u201d said [Jeremovic\u2019s attorney Elliot Ostrove,] of Epstein Ostrove in Edison, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s trying to be a social media personality and internet star, basically trying to make a living by riling up other people, and it seems to work to some degree,\u201d Ostrove said. \u201cDefamation laws need to exist online. Just because somebody\u2019s puts themselves online and uses their finger quotes or uses silly backgrounds or pretend like they\u2019re saying, \u2018well, it\u2019s just my opinion,\u2019 they can\u2019t then spew falsehoods that \u2026 actually harm people, and hide behind the fact that they\u2019re doing it on the Internet.
