Triaging the start of your own law firm and establishing an online brand.\u00a0 For a recording of the full webinar (which took place February 19, 2025), <a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/687aa0cdbf0c\/empowering-federal-attorneys-webinar\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">register here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Preserve Evidence<\/strong> \u2013 Download and save your eOPF, SF-50 forms, performance appraisals, and any positive supervisor emails in case you need to challenge employment actions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Know Your Civil Service Protections<\/strong> \u2013 Most permanent GS employees have due process rights, meaning you must be notified of allegations and given an opportunity to respond before removal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Understand Appeal Options<\/strong> \u2013 Removals can be appealed to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), where the agency has the burden of proof.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be Aware of Short Deadlines<\/strong> \u2013 Federal employees only have <strong>30 days<\/strong> to appeal adverse actions to the MSPB.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Know Your Whistleblower Rights<\/strong> \u2013 Reporting potential violations of law, mismanagement, or gross waste of funds may be protected speech.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consider EEO Complaints<\/strong> \u2013 Retaliation claims are often easier to prove than discrimination claims and must be filed within <strong>45 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seek Legal Counsel Quickly<\/strong> \u2013 Federal employment law is highly specialized; consult an attorney with federal sector expertise as soon as an issue arises.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monitor Reduction in Force (RIF) Notices<\/strong> \u2013 RIFs are appealable, and agencies often make technical mistakes that can be challenged.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check Loan Type<\/strong> \u2013 Only <strong>Federal Direct Loans<\/strong> qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
