The government has decided to punish two prominent law firms because they represent parties that the administration does not like<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2014 William Bay<\/a>, president of the American Bar Association, in a statement given to Reuters<\/a> on President Donald Trump\u2019s targeting of Covington & Burling<\/a> and Perkins Coie<\/a> based on clients they represented, noting further that clients should have the right to \u201caccess lawyers without government interference.\u201d Per Professor Jon Michaels<\/a> of the UCLA School of Law, Trump \u201cswore up and down that he\u2019d seek \u2018retribution\u2019 against his political opponents,\u201d and he seems to have done so by suspending security clearances for lawyers at both Covington and Perkins Coie. As noted by Professor Claire Finkelstein<\/a> of the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, \u201cBy removing these security clearances, they have removed a piece of their livelihood, and they\u2019ve done that without due process of law.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
