On Friday, Donald Trump dropped another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2025\/03\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-addresses-risks-from-paul-weiss\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">executive order <\/a>targeting a massive law firm; this time, Paul, Weiss was in the crosshairs. Previously, <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/02\/covington-must-wait-behind-putin-to-see-classified-documents-like-everyone-else\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Covington<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/trump-signs-executive-order-calling-out-top-50-biglaw-firm-with-intent-to-wage-war-against-other-leading-law-firms-over-their-dei-policies\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Perkins Coie<\/a> earned the president\u2019s ire, and similarly Paul, Weiss employees have had their security clearances stripped:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to suspend security clearances held by individuals at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton &amp; Garrison LLP (Paul Weiss) pending a review of whether such clearances are consistent with the national interest.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Additionally, federal agencies have been instructed to cancel any contracts \u201cfor which Paul Weiss has been hired to perform any service.\u201d And the firm\u2019s diversity, equity and inclusion practices will be put under a microscope.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Friday, Trump<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/nationallawjournal\/2025\/03\/14\/trump-takes-aim-at-crooked-law-firms-in-doj-speech\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> gave a speech<\/a> railing against \u201ccrooked law firms\u201d that participated and\/or aided in his personal legal troubles, saying, \u201cThere\u2019s a new phenomena with these violent, vicious lawyers that we have all over.\u201d He specifically named Jack Smith, Letitia James, Marc Elias, Alvin Bragg, and Mark Pomerantz in his remarks. \u201cThese are people that are bad people, really bad people,\u201d Trump said. \u201cThey tried to turn America into a corrupt, communist and third-world country; but in the end, the thugs failed, and the truth won.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s the likely reason Paul, Weiss finds themselves targeted.
