Well, don\u2019t tell that to Donald Trump. He sees his 2024 election victory as a coronation, and, in the past, when a federal judge even tried to slow down Trump\u2019s shenanigans, one of his minions was right there, ready to throw a temper tantrum. But now the big guy is getting in on the action.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll recall amongst the latest horrors, the<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/trump-white-house-tests-supreme-court-loyalty-with-increasingly-crackpot-legal-arguments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Trump administration sold Venezuelan detainees<\/a> to an El Salvadorian slave camp. They were accused of being gang members, many with little to no evidence of such, and rather than let the legal system adjudicate those accusations, the administration sent them to a human rights horror show. <\/p>\n<p>In this process, the order of D.C.\u2019s Chief District Judge Jeb Boasberg to not to carry out the deportations based on Trump\u2019s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act was almost certainly violated. The Justice Department was called to defend the government\u2019s actions but before the they could even do so, Donald Trump himself took to social media to call for<a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/us-law-week\/trump-makes-first-call-for-judges-impeachment-amid-court-fights\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Boasberg\u2019s impeachment<\/a>, calling him a \u201cRadical Left Lunatic of a Judge,\u201d and saying, \u201cThis judge, like many of the Crooked Judges\u2019 I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) said he will move for<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/5198905-gill-impeach-judge-deportations\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Boasberg\u2019s impeachment<\/a> later this week, which will make him <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/02\/now-the-gops-going-after-their-own-judges-when-they-do-their-job\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the third judge<\/a> who has ruled against the administration and <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/02\/articles-of-impeachment-against-judge-for-grievous-insult-of-doing-his-job\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">found articles of impeachment<\/a> with their names on them for their troubles.<\/p>\n<p>But because the president has weighed in this time, the Chief Justice made a statement, presented in its full milquetoast glory:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cFor more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s\u2026 underwhelming, but maybe a <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/john-roberts-realizes-he-made-a-huge-mistake\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">big move for a made man.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shorter John Roberts statement:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/abovethelaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-18-at-2.12.57%E2%80%AFPM-1024x573.png?resize=1024%2C573&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1153591\" title=\"\"><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And I\u2019m not the only one unimpressed. Fix the\u00a0Court\u2019s Gabe Roth issued this statement in light of Chief Justice Roberts speaking up about impeachment threats against judges:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChief Justice Roberts\u2019 statement makes an important point, but it\u2019s a little rich coming from the guy that, by giving Donald Trump near-total immunity in a major decision last year, helped usher in the present era of lawlessness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this critical juncture, efforts to bolster the judiciary can\u2019t just be talk.
