There\u2019s a new sheriff, or at least FBI director, in town. Despite the infamy<\/a> of his public enemies list<\/a>, Kash Patel<\/a> was recently confirmed to the position. His resume<\/a> is definitely notable, but it\u2019s his Department of Defense bio <\/a>that\u2019s caught our attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A native of New York, Mr. Patel completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Richmond before returning to New York to earn his law degree, along with a Certificate in International Law from University College London Faculty of Laws in the United Kingdom. Kash is a life-long ice hockey player, coach, and fan.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Curiously the bio lists where Patel got his bachelor\u2019s degree and even notes with specificity where he got a *certificate*. But the institution where he got his JD is left to a mere geographic indicator. It\u2019s like some through-the-looking-glass version of when Harvard douches say, \u201cI went to school in Cambridge.\u201d The difference, of course, is that everyone knows what that means but I struggle to know what Patel is even trying to signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are we supposed to think he went to New York University, the elite but notedly liberal, school? And Columbia Law is very much persona non grata<\/em> in this administration, so that\u2019s probably not what he\u2019s hoping people will assume. Perhaps we should think about New York as the state not the city and consider Cornell? There are 15 ABA-accredited law schools in New York state \u2014 that\u2019s a lot of possibilities left to the imagination in this geographic scavenger hunt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Patel actually went to Pace Law School \u2014 ranked 136 out of 196 law schools<\/a>. Which\u2026 was probably your 14th (out of 15, remember) guess.<\/p>\n\n\n
