When you think about what qualifies a person to work as a U.S. attorney, you might think of things like respect for country and excellent communication skills. When Donald Trump thought about what it took, he decided to appoint a lawyer who said \u201cveterans weren\u2019t fit to work<\/a>\u201d and is known for bending the truth past its breaking point<\/a>. That\u2019s right, Alina Habba was tapped on the shoulder to represent the public\u2019s interests in New Jersey. I\u2019m gonna wager that, regardless of what the folks in Jersey want, her zealous representation is going to look a lot like making sure whatever Donald Trump wants to get done gets done.<\/p>\n

An easy way to find out if she\u2019ll be carrying out the People\u2019s or Trump\u2019s agenda in New Jersey will be to follow one name: Mahmoud Khalil. The case was recently moved from Louisiana to New Jersey and Habba\u2019s involvement could soothsay what her involvement (or any other Trump lackies) with political prisoners will look like under this administration.<\/p>\n

For everyone in New Jersey\u2019s sake, let\u2019s hope that Habba took Elizabeth de la Vega\u2019s advice and brushed up on Con Law<\/a> before she starts meddling with her shiny new job responsibilities. <\/p>\n
