One of the first things you need to know in a fight is who you can and can\u2019t rely on. Thankfully, time and resources were saved by knowing that Paul Weiss is a lost cause. But the search is still on for compatriots willing to speak out against the current administration\u2019s consistent disregard for the rule of law. So far we\u2019ve seen Perkins Coie and Williams & Connolly<\/a> take their stands in court, Rachel Cohen stake her employment at Skadden<\/a>, and the American Constitution Society call on law school deans<\/a> to take a public stand for the rule of law. Today, the resistance list grew by a bunch of Bar Associations. From American Bar Association<\/a>:<\/p>\n

We support the right of people to advance their interests in courts of law when they have been wronged. We reject the notion that the U.S. government can punish lawyers and law firms who represent certain clients or punish judges who rule certain ways. We cannot accept government actions that seek to twist the scales of justice in this manner.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

We reject efforts to undermine the courts and the profession. We will not stay silent in the face of efforts to remake the legal profession into something that rewards those who agree with the government and punishes those who do not. Words and actions matter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n
