When Georgetown University Law Center was recently pressured by the Trump Administration to abandon its commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Dean William Treanor stood firm, calling the university\u2019s commitment to these principles a moral and educational imperative. DEI initiatives are not talking points or marketing tools; they are critical efforts to correct longstanding societal harms. By allowing candidates from systemically marginalized populations an equal opportunity to compete, diversity initiatives promote merit-based hiring. To suggest otherwise is to blame marginalized people for their own marginalization.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now that\u2019s great advocacy for diversity \u2014 the ABA should be taking notes<\/a>. <\/p>\n
