{"id":114002,"date":"2025-04-08T08:35:23","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T16:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xira.com\/p\/2025\/04\/08\/get-involved-volunteer-to-support-federal-government-lawyers-job-searches\/"},"modified":"2025-04-08T08:35:23","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T16:35:23","slug":"get-involved-volunteer-to-support-federal-government-lawyers-job-searches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xira.com\/p\/2025\/04\/08\/get-involved-volunteer-to-support-federal-government-lawyers-job-searches\/","title":{"rendered":"Get Involved: Volunteer to Support Federal Government Lawyers\u2019 Job Searches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Calling legal professionals, recruiters and coaches: Volunteer to help government lawyers who&#8217;ve lost their jobs.<br \/>\nThe post Get Involved: Volunteer to Support Federal Government Lawyers\u2019 Job Searches appeared first on Articles, Tips and Tech for Law Firms and Lawyers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The newly launched Job Support Service Center is bringing together legal professionals to support government lawyers and political employees who have lost their jobs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"770\" height=\"495\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.attorneyatwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/legal-support-network.jpg?resize=770%2C495&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Job support service center - resources for former federal government lawyers and political appointees\" class=\"wp-image-100041700\" title=\"\"><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-call-to-action\">Call to Action<\/h2>\n<p>The legal community has been ablaze with commentary about executive orders and rule-of-law threats.\u00a0But little attention has been given to the thousands of lawyers and legal professionals\u2014across multiple federal departments and agencies\u2014who have lost their jobs since January, including many political appointees.<\/p>\n<p>To help our colleagues in the legal sector, I\u2019m leveraging my network of in-house and law firm relationships to launch a <strong>Job Support Service Center<\/strong> \u2014 a voluntary initiative focused on connecting these professionals with support for their search and potential new opportunities.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-we-re-doing-and-how-it-works\">What We\u2019re Doing and How It Works<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re building a contact database of affected legal professionals \u2014 that is the hardest part!\u00a0If you know any of these lawyers, please contact me (see below) with their full name and email and we will invite them to participate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We are collaborating with the excellent existing LinkedIn groups and initiatives already offering help to legal professionals in certain departments and agencies.<\/p>\n<p>A LinkedIn Group for the Job Support Service Center is in the works, and we hope to build a simple website to share resources, job search guidance, and promote our activities. These activities will include <strong>workshops<\/strong> on topics for former government lawyers and legal professionals, such as:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list has-background\">\n<li><strong>What recruiters seek for in-house and law firm roles<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Job search strategies to land the right role faster<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Enhance your professional presence on social media<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Craft standout cover letters, CVs, and interview skills<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-you-can-help\">How You Can Help<\/h2>\n<p>To date, we\u2019ve gathered\u00a0<strong>18 volunteers<\/strong>\u00a0but we will need at least double or triple that number. If you\u2019re a <strong>legal professional, recruiter or coach<\/strong>, email me at <a href=\"mailto:eldance@eldinternational.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>eldance@eldinternational.com<\/strong><\/a> to volunteer. <\/p>\n<p>When you contact me to volunteer, please choose the areas where you want to help. The areas are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-background\">\n<li><strong>Reviewing CVs<\/strong>. Provide feedback to sharpen job applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mini-Mentoring<\/strong>. Three (30-45 min) Zoom calls to guide a job-seeking former federal lawyer in your practice area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Career Coaching<\/strong>. Coach two structured sessions to help each interested lawyer map an effective job search.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Virtual Coffee Hours<\/strong>. Help organize or moderate casual networking and job-hunt discussions and spotlight what\u2019s working best and what\u2019s most challenging.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Speak at a Workshop<\/strong>. Share your expertise as a legal leader, recruiter,\u00a0qualified coach,\u00a0social media expert, resume writer or presenter on one of the four workshop topics above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will honor your time constraints, as we understand most of you have limited time for this.\u00a0Briefing materials will be provided, and optional virtual meetings will help volunteers share best practices.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-get-involved-even-if-you-can-t-volunteer\">Get Involved, Even If You Can\u2019t Volunteer!<\/h2>\n<p>If you can\u2019t volunteer but want to help, please:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-background\">\n<li><strong>Share this article<\/strong> and encourage colleagues to get involved.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pass along to us contact info for<\/strong> former federal lawyers who may need support.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Suggest ways<\/strong> to reach more affected professionals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This Job Support Service Center initiative is fully voluntary, and services are offered at no cost.
