But only $340 million in deals has been announced thus far. <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/kirkland-ellis-wants-to-cave-to-donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kirkland is reportedly<\/a> in talks to join the ranks of Biglaw firms surrendering to Trump, but where would the rest of the payments come from?<\/p>\n<p>Well, it seems three more firms are in talks to bend a knee to the administration. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/americanlawyer\/2025\/04\/10\/growing-list-of-firms-seek-white-house-deals-hoping-to-also-curtail-eeoc-inquiries\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to a report<\/a> from Law.com, Latham &amp; Watkins, A&amp;O Shearman, and Simpson Thacher &amp; Bartlett are the firms looking into settling \u201cgrievances\u201d with the Trump administration in exchange for their principles. The cost may be going up though \u2014 in a press conference on Thursday, Donald Trump said the firms currently negotiating deals will pay $125 million in pro bono payola \u2014 up from the $100 million <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/skadden-makes-100-million-settlement-with-trump-in-pro-bono-payola\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Skadden<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/milbank-joins-list-of-pushover-biglaw-firms-bowing-to-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Milbank<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/willkie-farr-surrenders-to-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Willkie<\/a> are paying and significantly more than the $40 million <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/paul-weiss-grovels-to-trump-gets-out-from-under-executive-order\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Weiss<\/a> (the first firm to fall) is paying. Hope the associates at those firms like negotiating loser trade deals.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to avoiding the<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/bannon-drops-bombshell-trump-wants-to-cripple-elite-law-firms\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> financial fallout<\/a> of a potential Executive Order targeting the firms, the new deals are also reportedly to resolve the <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/trump-sics-eeoc-on-20-biglaw-firms\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EEOC investigation Trump ordered<\/a> on their firms.<\/p>\n<p>In the face of this cowardice, it bears repeating that every federal judge (both <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/not-one-but-two-george-w-bush-appointed-judges-grant-restraining-orders-against-trumps-biglaw-executive-orders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Republican- and Democrat-appointed<\/a>) has said the Executive Orders are<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/perkins-coie-gets-temporary-restraining-order-against-trumps-punitive-executive-order\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> likely unconstitutional<\/a>.
