And if that seems very normal and acceptable to you, then you probably don\u2019t realize each of the firms have <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/not-one-but-two-george-w-bush-appointed-judges-grant-restraining-orders-against-trumps-biglaw-executive-orders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">secured temporary restraining<\/a> orders<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/perkins-coie-gets-temporary-restraining-order-against-trumps-punitive-executive-order\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> barring the enforcement<\/a> of key provisions of those exact EOs.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"589\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/abovethelaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/04\/CFTC-1024x589.jpg?resize=1024%2C589&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1156876\" title=\"\"><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The specific provisions enjoined by the judges include the sections of the EOs that direct agencies, such as the CFTC, to limit the engagement with the law firms and from granting law firm employees access to federal buildings.<\/p>\n<p>And I don\u2019t think this is some bureaucratic mistake \u2014 this<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/doj-lawyer-tells-court-it-will-comply-with-order-doj-writes-back-weve-decided-to-violate-it-instead-thx-bye\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> isn\u2019t the first time<\/a> a federal agency has thrown a middle finger in the face of the TROs. The Trump administration\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/republicans-want-to-eliminate-federal-courts-because-theyre-checking-and-balancing-donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> repeated disrespect<\/a> for the<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/donald-trump-wants-to-impeach-judge-who-dared-to-explain-basic-con-law\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> judicial system<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/conservative-appellate-judge-expresses-disapproval-of-those-calling-for-judicial-impeachments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">deeply disturbing,<\/a> but entirely expected given the authoritarian bent of the Trump II reign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> A CFTC spokesperson provided the following comment: \u201c<em>At no point was the CFTC in violation of the executive orders or the subsequent court orders. The CFTC administrative staff routinely forward executive orders to an agency-wide distribution list.
