AALM:<\/strong> When did you first know you wanted to become an attorney?<\/p>\n

AF:<\/strong> I\u2019ve wanted to be an attorney for as long as I can remember. Much to my parents\u2019 delight, I turned every conversation into a mini trial, always questioning, needing a solid answer to my endless \u201cwhys,\u201d and debating. I would argue over anything, from why I should be allowed to stay up late to whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it does). The challenge of solving tough problems and advocating for others really spoke to me, and I realized that law would be the perfect way to channel my passion for debate. Commercial litigation especially caught my eye because it combines strategy, problem-solving, and high-pressure decision-making.<\/p>\n

AALM:<\/strong> How is the practice of law different than your expectations in law school?<\/p>\n

AF:<\/strong> In law school, we focus heavily on theory and the fundamentals of law, which are crucial for building a strong foundation. However, I soon learned that the real world of law is much more dynamic. Practicing law involves cultivating relationships, adapting to client needs, and finding practical solutions under pressure. While the concepts in law school can feel abstract, practicing law means dealing with real-world issues that directly impact clients\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n

AALM:<\/strong> What drew you to your current firm?<\/p>\n

AF: <\/strong>I was drawn to Balch & Bingham because of its reputation in commercial litigation. The culture is collaborative yet challenging, with a strong emphasis on professional development. Balch gives me the support and tools to thrive in the ever-changing landscape that is commercial litigation.\u00a0 Currently, I focus on handling cases, building client relationships, and\u00a0 developing legal strategies.<\/p>\n

AALM:<\/strong> Of the cases you\u2019ve worked on or witnessed, what has stood out most?<\/p>\n

AF:<\/strong> While not specific to a certain case, a lesson that has always resonated with me, taught early on by a great mentor, is the value of kindness in this profession. In law, where everyone is deeply passionate about advocating for their clients, I learned that achieving success doesn\u2019t require hostility toward opposing counsel. It\u2019s possible to show professionalism and respect while still fiercely advocating for your client.<\/p>\n

AALM:<\/strong> With ever-evolving technology, how do you see the legal profession evolving over your career?<\/p>\n

AF:<\/strong> Technology is transforming the legal profession, and I believe it will keep evolving, making legal work more efficient but also possibly more competitive. I think AI and automation will take over more routine tasks, allowing lawyers to focus on strategy and complex legal analysis. Overall, I choose to see it as a positive development, as it will create opportunities for lawyers to engage in more meaningful work, but it also requires us to keep adapting to new tools and techniques.<\/p>\n

AALM:<\/strong> What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Hobbies? Sports?<\/p>\n

AF:<\/strong> Outside of work, I love staying active and occasionally reliving my high school volleyball days (Go Bishop Kenny Crusaders!) by playing recreationally. It\u2019s a fun way to relax and connect with others outside of a professional setting. Traveling with my family is another big passion, as we love seeing new places and experiencing different cultures. We\u2019re also big sports fans, so we enjoy attending various sports events.<\/p>\n

AALM:<\/strong> What do you most hope to accomplish in the future?<\/p>\n

AF:<\/strong> I hope to continue growing both professionally and personally. In the near future, I aim to continue handling complex cases, strengthen my reputation in commercial litigation, and make meaningful contributions to the legal community. Ultimately, I aim to have a positive impact and offer mentorship to younger attorneys.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I\u2019ve had and the colleagues I\u2019ve worked with. Law is a demanding and fulfilling career, and I look forward to continuing to grow and make meaningful contributions to the field as I move forward.<\/p>\n
