It seems like a silly argument \u2014 and one that is one hundred percent obliterated by an amended complaint. But, well, here we are.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s set the scene. It\u2019s in <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/perkins-coie-drags-trump-administration-clear-to-hell-in-new-lawsuit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the case that Perkins Coie brought<\/a> against the Trump administration challenging the Executive Order targeting the firm. The firm has already <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/perkins-coie-gets-temporary-restraining-order-against-trumps-punitive-executive-order\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">won a temporary restraining order<\/a> barring the enforcement of certain key provisions that they\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perkinscoiefacts.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">seeking <\/a>to make permanent. But the DOJ argued that an injunction is only enforceable against the agencies specifically named in the complaint, not against all of the agencies that <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/flying-in-the-face-of-multiple-court-orders-cftc-wants-to-ensure-compliance-with-executive-orders-targeting-biglaw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">could potentially act on the EO<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>So Perkins Coie played a quintessentially lawyer move and just amended the complaint. And they listed: Every. Single. Agency.<\/p>\n<p>Over on Bluesky, Roger Parloff of Lawfare gives us a visual of the new amended complaint.
