It should be considered a red flag anywhere else; expect long hours, guilt, and below-market pay. The second is that there actually is a lot that goes into a name. For example, you can expect the folks at PETA to place a premium on ethical behavior, but you should also assume that the lion\u2019s share of it will go towards\u2026 <em>lions<\/em>. According to this recent suit, PETA hasn\u2019t been doing the best job of treating their humans on payroll ethically. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law360.com\/employment\/articles\/2332037\/ex-peta-worker-says-24-7-on-call-policy-ducked-wages\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Law360 <\/a>has coverage:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals\u00a0implemented an illegal 24\/7\u00a0on-call policy that cheated social media employees of wages and overtime, and terminated those who complained about it, a former employee said in a lawsuit in California state court.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0suit\u00a0filed Monday, Dusty Coupwood said that PETA\u2019s on-call policy requiring employees to constantly check their phones and be available led to a slew of California Labor Code violations, including missed meal and rest breaks, unpaid wages and overtime, and retaliation \u201cagainst those who dared to challenge these illegal practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Listen.
