It is expected to triple in the next 10 years. \u201cMillennials are hitting their 40s. You can look better without getting plastic surgery, and there is a growing social acceptance of cosmetic enhancement,\u201d said Taft. \u201cBut while the industry is expanding quickly, regulations haven\u2019t kept pace in many states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taft advises medical groups, including med spas, on everything from regulatory compliance to strategic business decisions. Taft has 10 years of experience as a general counsel in the medical and dental fields. \u201cThe dental industry has evolved rapidly, so that experience gives me deep insight into the booming med spa industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Gray Areas<\/h2>\n<p>Taft helps med spas navigate what she calls, the gray areas. \u201cWhile Botox treatments may be common, they\u2019re still medical treatments. These aren\u2019t just facials,\u201d explained Taft. \u201cSpas need proper consent forms, strong documentation practices, and systems that align with state medical board expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taft advises healthcare groups on setting up group practices, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, vendor disputes, real estate, insurance, and compliance. She also advises her clients in defending regulatory board complaints and provides risk mitigation strategies for complex issues like cyber breaches, HIPAA compliance, and partner disputes.<\/p>\n<h2>Direct Advice<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI act as an outside general counsel for our clients,\u201d said Taft. \u201cMy goal is to keep my clients ahead of problems, whether that\u2019s structuring a deal properly or responding quickly when something goes wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She focuses on helping practice groups leverage technology through vendor relationships, mitigate risk, and improve efficiency. \u201cThese strategies not only boost profitability but also prepare businesses for future transitions like a sale or succession plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t give theoretical advice.
