And there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/biglaw-firms-fighting-trump-keep-winning-capitulators-keep-losing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">already fallout<\/a> over the capitulation.<\/p>\n<p>The firms that caved to Trump signaled they\u2019re unwilling to take a legal fight to the Trump administration. <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/general-counsel-no-longer-trust-biglaw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Some clients <\/a>see that as<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/biglaw-firms-that-capitulated-to-trump-are-weak\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> weak<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/the-stench-of-capitulation-lingers-on-biglaw-firms-in-league-with-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and, increasingly<\/a>, are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/microsoft-boots-trump-capitulator-simpson-thacher-awards-business-to-jenner-block\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pulling work away<\/a>\u00a0from the firms that have deals with Trump. And there\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/another-congressional-investigation-for-biglaw-firms-capitulating-to-donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> not one, <\/a>but <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/biglaws-craven-capitulation-to-trump-now-under-congressional-scrutiny\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">two <\/a>congressional<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/biglaw-firms-surrendering-to-trump-furiously-backpedaling-lol-what-pro-bono-deals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> probes<\/a> over the dealings. Plus,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/skadden-senior-associate-quits-after-firms-craven-capitulation-to-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">attorneys<\/a>\u00a0are<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/a-third-year-skadden-associate-is-the-only-person-in-biglaw-willing-to-publicly-condemn-trumps-threat-to-the-rule-of-law\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0leaving<\/a>\u00a0the<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/the-kirkland-exodus-is-picking-up-steam\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0firms that caved<\/a>\u00a0to Trump, hoping to get the stink of capitulation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/associate-quits-in-epic-fashion-says-willkie-farrs-principles-are-now-so-deeply-compromised\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">off their resumes<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But at least one of those firms is trying to make lemonade out of those self-inflicted lemons.<\/p>\n<p>According to<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/business\/5297272-trump-business-leaders-saudi-investment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> reporting by <\/a>The Hill, Jon Ballis, chair at<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/five-top-biglaw-firms-pledge-their-allegiance-to-trump-promising-to-provide-legal-services-beyond-his-time-in-the-white-house\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Kirkland &amp; Ellis<\/a> (a firm <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/kirkland-ellis-wants-to-cave-to-donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eager to strike a deal <\/a>with Trump), was one of the business leaders that flew to Riyadh to have lunch with Trump and Saudi officials for a meeting reportedly focused on investment opportunities. Amongst others, there were representatives from Alcola, Northrop Grumman, General Atomics, Halliburton, CitiGroup, and IBM. Ballis was the only Biglaw leader at the luncheon.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia pledged to invest $1 trillion in the US through a sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund. PIF has historically looked to Latham &amp; Watkins and A&amp;O Shearman (firms that have also bent a knee to Donald Trump) for legal advice.
