The news is a deluge.\u00a0It arrives relentlessly in daily, or hourly, or minutely cycles.<\/p>\n

The tweets are even worse.\u00a0They \u201cbegin, and cease, and then again begin<\/a>,\u201d frothing and vanishing into the twittersphere.<\/p>\n

So slow down this week and think about some of Trump\u2019s best tweets.<\/p>\n

Trump wrote<\/a>, for example, on January 29, 2024 \u2014 early in the 2024 presidential campaign \u2014 that Trump, and not then-President Biden, deserved credit for the recent rise in stock prices:\u00a0\u201cTHIS IS THE TRUMP STOCK MARKET BECAUSE MY POLLS AGAINST JOE BIDEN ARE SO GOOD THAT INVESTORS ARE PROJECTING THAT I WILL WIN, AND THAT WILL DRIVE THE MARKET UP . . . .\u201d<\/p>\n

Fair enough.\u00a0Until Trump\u2019s recent tariff idiocy cratered the stock market.\u00a0On April 30, 2025 \u2014 15 months after the first tweet and a few months into the Trump presidency \u2014 the stock market faltered.\u00a0Then, of course, Trump\u00a0was not to blame<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cThis is Biden\u2019s Stock Market, not Trump\u2019s.\u00a0I didn\u2019t take over until January 20th . . . . [W]e have to get rid of the Biden \u2018Overhang.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Please note two things.\u00a0First, the random capitalization is, of course, Trump\u2019s, not mine.\u00a0I haven\u2019t forgotten what I learned in elementary school, so I capitalize more or less correctly.\u00a0Second, Trump routinely takes credit for everything good and takes blame for nothing bad.\u00a0These starkly contradictory tweets aren\u2019t unusual for Trump; they simply demonstrate undeniably, in his own words, his customary schtick.<\/p>\n

What else do Trump\u2019s tweets (or, now, \u201ctruths\u201d) show?<\/p>\n

On the campaign trail, Trump told us repeatedly that he would end the war between Russia and Ukraine on his first day in office (if not earlier).\u00a0Trump was campaigning, of course, so we knew \u2014 as Trump later conceded \u2014 that he was being a little optimistic.\u00a0Still, I couldn\u2019t wait to see how Trump\u2019s genius would unwind what seemed to be a thorny situation.<\/p>\n

On April 24 of this year, Trump revealed his strategy.\u00a0He\u00a0tweeted<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cVladimir, STOP!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Whoa!\u00a0If only I\u2019d thought of that!\u00a0That\u2019s why we elected the guy!\u00a0Gimme a minute to check on how this brilliant new approach to negotiations has worked.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m just getting warmed up.\u00a0Back in his first term, Trump\u00a0tweeted<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cHow low has President Obama gone to tapp [sic<\/em>, of course] my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon\/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!\u201d\u00a0 This was insane, and the FBI explained at the time that it had no evidence to support the claim.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

But maybe I\u2019m lying.\u00a0So, call my bluff, Trump:\u00a0You\u2019re now having the FBI investigate endless silly things.\u00a0Instruct the FBI to look into Obama\u2019s wiretaps, dig up evidence to support your accusation, and put the criminals away.<\/p>\n

Fat chance.<\/p>\n

Most recently, and the event that prompted this column, was what Trump posted on Memorial Day.\u00a0There\u2019s a law, 36 U.S.C. Section 116, that \u201crequests\u201d that the president issue a proclamation each Memorial Day calling on the people of the United States to unite in prayer for permanent peace.\u00a0Here<\/a>, in part, is how the moron-in-chief fulfilled his commitment this year:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY THROUGH WARPED RADICAL LEFT MINDS, WHO ALLOWED 21,000,000 MILLION [sic<\/em>, of course]\u00a0PEOPLE TO ILLEGALLY ENTER OUR COUNTRY, MANY OF THEM BEING CRIMINALS AND THE MENTALLY INSANE, THROUGH AN OPEN BORDER THAT ONLY AN INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT WOULD APPROVE, AND THROUGH JUDGES WHO ARE ON A MISSION TO KEEP MURDERERS, DRUG DEALERS, RAPISTS, GANG MEMBERS, AND RELEASED PRISONERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN OUR COUNTRY SO THEY CAN ROB, MURDER, AND RAPE AGAIN \u2014 ALL PROTECTED BY THESE USA HATING JUDGES WHO SUFFER FROM AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS SICK, AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR OUR COUNTRY . . . .<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Did anyone ever die in defense of this country and now deserve a moment of tribute?<\/p>\n

I should be used to this by now.\u00a0Trump habitually uses holidays \u2014 Christmas, Easter, Memorial Day \u2014 not to commemorate religious or historical events, but instead to tear America apart, often in all caps.<\/p>\n

Trump takes pride in his pronouncements on social media and the number of people he can influence with what he says.\u00a0He\u2019s rumored to write many of the tweets himself.\u00a0And the tweets demonstrate, without much doubt . . . well, decide for yourself.<\/p>\n
