With Q3 nearly upon us, Biglaw firms most definitely have the urge to merge. Within the last month, two major mergers were announced \u2014\u00a0McDermott Will & Emery and Schulte Roth & Zabel<\/a>, followed by the debut of HSF Kramer<\/a>.\u00a0Law firm merger interest seems to remain at an\u00a0\u201call-time high,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and it\u2019s no surprise that two more firms have signaled that they\u2019ve quietly combined.<\/p>\n

Today, Am Law 100 firm Crowell & Moring \u2014 a firm that brought in $626,041,000 gross revenue in 2024 \u2014 and Boston-based life sciences boutique Faber Daeufer & Itrato announced that they\u2019d be joining hands, adding 24 additional lawyers to the Biglaw firm\u2019s bench. This officially makes Crowell the latest Biglaw firm to enter the Boston market, following in the footsteps of at least five other firms eager to \u201cpahk the car in Hahvahd Yahd.\u201d Bloomberg Law<\/a> has additional details:<\/p>\n

The tie-up deepens Crowell\u2019s \u201climited\u201d capabilities in the life sciences and emerging companies areas, Philip T. Inglima, chair of the firm\u2019s management board, said in an interview. The combination also allows Crowell to expand its real estate footprint in Boston, a\u00a0key geographic area<\/a>\u00a0for life sciences and start-ups where Faber has an office and Crowell has a few lawyers servicing clients from other locations.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowth in our transaction practices is a priority, and they bring us that in spades,\u201d Inglima said of Faber. \u201cThey bring us great credibility in life sciences and depth in the emerging companies and venture capital practice, where we only had a limited amount before.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Joseph Faber, cofounder of the acquired firm, will be taking on a leadership role at Crowell, where he\u2019ll oversee the integration and operations of Crowell\u2019s new and larger life sciences practice.\u00a0<\/p>\n
