Yesterday afternoon,\u00a0Rise and Resist<\/a>, a nonprofit group dedicated to opposing government acts that \u201cthreaten[] democracy, equality, and our civil liberties,\u201d took a break from its weekly \u201ccowardly law firm crawl\u201d<\/a> to gather outside the offices of some of the firms that have fought against the Trump administration\u2019s unlawful executive orders \u2014 and won \u2014 to celebrate their courageousness.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you recall, RAR previously demonstrated against Biglaw firms\u2019 cowardice. Specifically, because \u201creal lawyers don\u2019t give in without a fight,\u201d RAR rallied against the nine law firms \u2014\u00a0Paul Weiss<\/a>;\u00a0Skadden<\/a>;\u00a0Willkie Farr<\/a>;\u00a0Milbank<\/a>;\u00a0Kirkland & Ellis<\/a>;\u00a0Latham & Watkins<\/a>;\u00a0Simpson Thacher<\/a>;\u00a0A&O Shearman<\/a>; and\u00a0Cadwalader<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 that capitulated to Trump and signed pro bono payola deals that would forever stain their legacies.<\/p>\n

Here are some photos from the Rise and Resist rally in support of Perkins Coie and Jenner & Block, some of the brave law firms that stood up to Trump.<\/p>\n

Rallies like these aren\u2019t going to stop anytime soon. Next time, we hope RAR shows some love to WilmerHale and Susman Godfrey. We, too, need to do our jobs as members of the legal profession to support the Biglaw firms that truly stood up for what is right in an effort to protect the rule of law and democracy as a whole.<\/p>\n
