{"id":122457,"date":"2025-06-09T10:02:40","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T18:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xira.com\/p\/2025\/06\/09\/landing-a-federal-judgeship-in-the-trump-administration\/"},"modified":"2025-06-09T10:02:40","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T18:02:40","slug":"landing-a-federal-judgeship-in-the-trump-administration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xira.com\/p\/2025\/06\/09\/landing-a-federal-judgeship-in-the-trump-administration\/","title":{"rendered":"Landing A Federal Judgeship In The Trump Administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve known for years that Donald Trump despises liberal judges.<\/p>\n<p>Back in his first term, Trump categorized judges who ruled against him as \u201chaters\u201d or \u201cso-called judges.\u201d When Judge Arthur Engoron ruled against Trump in Letitia James\u2019s civil fraud against him, Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/3\/20\/lunatic-trumps-long-history-of-abusing-judges-who-oppose-him?traffic_source=rss\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">labeled<\/a>\u00a0Engoron a\u00a0\u201cTrump-hating, radical left, Democrat operative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attacks haven\u2019t changed over time.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/05\/16\/nx-s1-5393684\/activist-judges-supreme-court-presidents-trump-fdr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a>\u00a0supporters that,\u00a0\u201cWe cannot allow a handful of communist radical-left judges to obstruct the enforcement of our laws and assume the duties that belong solely to the president of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That shows a fine understanding of the American system of justice.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, however, it turned out that Trump doesn\u2019t simply despise liberal judges.\u00a0He also despises conservative ones.<\/p>\n<p>After a court blocked Trump\u2019s attempt to impose universal tariffs, Trump went after Leonard Leo, a heavy hitter in the conservative Federalist Society who had advised Trump on judicial nominations in his first term.\u00a0Leo had apparently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/national-news\/articles\/2025-05-30\/trumps-latest-target-leonard-leo-who-is-he\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">duped<\/a>\u00a0Trump into appointing conservatives:\u00a0\u201cI was new to Washington, and it was suggested that I use The Federalist Society as a recommending source on Judges,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb of a real \u2018sleazebag\u2019 named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America, and obviously has his own separate ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump will apparently no longer solicit the Federalist Society\u2019s opinion in choosing his judicial nominees.<\/p>\n<p>This left me scratching my head:\u00a0Trump doesn\u2019t like liberal judges.\u00a0He doesn\u2019t like conservative judges.\u00a0He doesn\u2019t like nonpartisan judges. (He\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epi.org\/policywatch\/trump-fires-17-inspectors-general\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fired 17<\/a>\u00a0inspectors general back in January.)\u00a0So who exactly does he like?<\/p>\n<p>It couldn\u2019t be that he likes only judges who rule in his favor, could it?\u00a0Because that would mean that he doesn\u2019t like judges at all; he simply likes lickspittles.<\/p>\n<p>On the off chance that lickspittling is the way to go, I\u2019m thinking of starting a new society to train potential judges.\u00a0My society won\u2019t veer either to the left or the right, so we won\u2019t offend Trump.\u00a0There\u2019ll be no ACLU or Federalist Society in my house.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No, no, no.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll simply train people to be subservient to Trump.\u00a0Folks in my society will learn to say that Trump is \u201cright.\u201d\u00a0But I won\u2019t stop there!\u00a0Trainees will also learn to say that Trump is \u201calways right.\u201d And \u201cbrilliant,\u201d \u201cGod\u2019s messenger on earth,\u201d \u201cthe greatest President who ever lived,\u201d and \u201ca likely candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That should do the trick.<\/p>\n<p>Join my society, and I\u2019m almost certain that I can land you on the federal judiciary!<\/p>\n<p>But be careful:\u00a0You might not end up being appointed a judge.<\/p>\n<p>You might wind up on the Cabinet.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n<p><strong><em>Mark\u00a0Herrmann\u00a0spent 17 years as a partner at a leading international law firm and later oversaw litigation, compliance and employment matters at a large international company.
