Since then, the firm has been experiencing the consequences of their actions \u2014 the deal with<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/pray-i-dont-alter-it-any-further-what-darth-vader-should-teach-law-firms-about-settling-with-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Trump keeps getting worse<\/a>, there\u2019ve been<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/biglaws-craven-capitulation-to-trump-now-under-congressional-scrutiny\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> congressional investigations<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/the-stench-of-capitulation-lingers-on-biglaw-firms-in-league-with-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">client concerns<\/a>, and so many lawyers <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/paul-weiss-pro-bono-leader-would-rather-quit-his-job-than-do-work-for-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bailing<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/after-capitulating-to-trump-paul-weiss-loses-prominent-partner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the firm<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/paul-weiss-rainmakers-bolt-to-start-new-firm-free-of-trump-deal-restrictions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">distance themselves<\/a> from the craven capitulation.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few days, the talent loss at Paul, Weiss has seen a noticeable uptick. On Friday, Damian Williams, former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/americanlawyer\/2025\/06\/06\/former-sdny-us-attorney-departs-paul-weiss-for-jenner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> announced<\/a> he was leaving the cowardly Paul, Weiss. Williams\u2019s new Biglaw home? <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/jenner-and-wilmerhale-go-for-blood-in-fight-over-biglaw-executive-orders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jenner &amp; Block<\/a> \u2014 one of the four Biglaw firm fighting the Trump Biglaw executive orders in court. And\u2026 that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about what Williams thinks about making a deal with Trump.<\/p>\n<p>But that isn\u2019t the only noteworthy recent partner departure. Three litigation partners: Melissa Zappala, Rush Atkinson (who worked on the Mueller investigation), and Kyle Smith are dipping from Paul, Weiss and heading to the new litigation boutique Dunn Isaacson Rhee. <\/p>\n<p>Dunn Isaacson Rhee was recently formed by four now-former Paul, Weiss partners looking to practice law<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/paul-weiss-rainmakers-bolt-to-start-new-firm-free-of-trump-deal-restrictions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> free from the shadow of the Trump deal. <\/a>In addition to the seven partners, three associates \u2014 Erica Spevack, Lyle Gruby, and Leah Hibbler \u2014 have joined Dunn Isaacson Rhee. And<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/americanlawyer\/2025\/06\/09\/paul-weiss-sees-more-partner-exits\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> the firm is reportedly<\/a> recruiting even more lawyers to join their ranks.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s\u2026 a lot of litigation talent loss at Paul, Weiss.
