Since then, the firm has been experiencing the consequences of their actions \u2014 the deal with<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/pray-i-dont-alter-it-any-further-what-darth-vader-should-teach-law-firms-about-settling-with-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u00a0Trump keeps getting worse<\/a>, there\u2019ve been<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/biglaws-craven-capitulation-to-trump-now-under-congressional-scrutiny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u00a0congressional investigations<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/the-stench-of-capitulation-lingers-on-biglaw-firms-in-league-with-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">client concerns<\/a>. And, of course, there\u2019ve been bunches lawyers\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/paul-weiss-pro-bono-leader-would-rather-quit-his-job-than-do-work-for-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">bailing<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/after-capitulating-to-trump-paul-weiss-loses-prominent-partner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the firm<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/paul-weiss-rainmakers-bolt-to-start-new-firm-free-of-trump-deal-restrictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">distance themselves<\/a> from the craven capitulation. Most recently, Paul, Weiss is dealing with the anticipated 20-odd litigators leaving to work at litigation boutique Dunn Isaacson Rhee. That firm was <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/paul-weiss-rainmakers-bolt-to-start-new-firm-free-of-trump-deal-restrictions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">created in the wake of Paul, Weiss\u2019s Trump deal<\/a> by partners Karen Dunn, Bill Isaacson, Jessica Phillips, and Jeannie Rhee.<\/p>\n<p>And Karp spent time last week doing damage control on those departures. According to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/americanlawyer\/2025\/06\/13\/navigating-litigator-exits-paul-weiss-leader-contends-firm-is-healthier-than-ever\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> reporting by<\/a> American Lawyer, Karp spoke at a partner meeting to combat \u201cmisinformation\u201d about the recent spate of departures. He allegedly called those heading to Dunn Isaacson a \u201csiloed unit\u201d that came to Paul, Weiss from Boies Schiller.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Karp also told partners on Monday that he expects some other partners who worked together at Paul Weiss and Boies Schiller, including income partners, to join the departing group. Sources said that Karp told the partnership that the firm has \u201cencouraged them to move on\u201d and that the firm wished them \u201cevery success.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But other sources dispute that characterization, saying the departing attorneys (19 so far have been confirmed to be leaving for Dunn Isaacson, with more expected to join according to the boutique) were not siloed and of the 19 joining the new firm, only five worked together at Boies.<\/p>\n<p>Karp downplayed the losses to the firm\u2019s litigation department (Damian Williams, former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, also <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/06\/partners-are-running-from-the-stink-of-paul-weisss-capitulation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently announced<\/a> he was leaving Paul, Weiss for Jenner &amp; Block \u2014 a firm <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/jenner-and-wilmerhale-go-for-blood-in-fight-over-biglaw-executive-orders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">very much not capitulating to Trump<\/a>) saying the firm has \u201chas never been healthier,\u201d and noting the litigation department is still 55% larger than it was two years ago.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>During the meeting, Karp also sought to address the health and growth of the firm, noting that six of the 10 largest matters in the firm over the past month are litigation matters.
