With news of the potential tie-up first <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/biglaw-merger-talks-could-create-new-2-billion-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced in May<\/a>, and following an \u201coverwhelmingly\u201d positive partnership-wide poll, McDermott Will &amp; Emery and Schulte Roth &amp; Zabel are poised to sign a merger agreement by July 1. Combined, the firm will have more than 1,750 lawyers spread across more than 20 offices globally, with joint revenue of more than $2.8 billion. On top of that, the merger will create a <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/05\/proposed-biglaw-merger-will-create-new-top-20-am-law-firm-new-top-new-york-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">new top New York firm<\/a>, with more than 540 lawyers servicing clients in the city that never sleeps.<\/p>\n<p>Ira Coleman, McDermott\u2019s chairman, said in a statement that through this merger, the firms are \u201cnot just expanding our expertise, we\u2019re redefining what it means to be a modern, elite law firm\u2014deeply specialized, relentlessly client-focused, and committed to a people-first culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marc Elovitz and David Efron, Schulte\u2019s co-managing partners, echoed Coleman\u2019s words, with Elovitz noting that by adding SRZ\u2019s \u201cextraordinary talent and premier client base with McDermott\u2019s world-class platform, we\u2019re creating a unique firm with unmatched capabilities. It\u2019s truly transformational.\u201d Efron agreed, stating, \u201cThis is a first-of-its-kind deal in our profession\u2014with two elite firms performing at the highest levels choosing to come together\u2014and we\u2019re incredibly excited to bring it to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Together, the firms have agreed to go forward under the name McDermott Will &amp; Schulte, kicking Emery, Roth, and Zabel to the curb.
