While their eldest daughter survived the flash flood, their rising third graders did not. As noted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/nationallawjournal\/2025\/07\/07\/2-daughters-of-dallas-big-law-partners-among-texas-flood-victims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">National Law Journal<\/a>, both firms expressed their sympathies to the couple:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>When asked for comment on the situation, Akin wrote in an emailed statement, \u201cWe extend our deepest condolences to Lacy, her husband John, Harper, and the entire Lawrence family. We hold them close in our thoughts and prayers, along with everyone who has suffered from the tragedy in Texas, feeling the weight of their pain and sadness during this unbearably difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baker Botts also wrote in an emailed statement, \u201cOur hearts are with our colleagues, clients, and communities impacted by the catastrophic Texas Hill Country floods. The magnitude of loss, pain of not knowing, and extensive destruction are profound and devastating for those directly affected and our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Lawrences said the following of their daughters in an email to the Texas Lawyer: \u201cHanna and Rebecca brought so much joy to us, to their big sister Harper, and to so many others. We will find ways to keep that joy, and to continue to spread it for them. But we are devastated that the bond we shared with them, and that they shared with each other, is now frozen in time.
