The political striver who tried to leverage the state\u2019s law enforcement apparatus to <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2024\/03\/missouri-ag-sues-media-matters-for-aggravated-mean-to-twitter\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">avenge Elon Musk\u2019s hurt feelings<\/a> is big mad with big tech and fired off a bunch of letters complaining that generative AI isn\u2019t appropriately deferential to Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey sent a formal demand letter to Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Meta regarding biased and factually inaccurate responses produced by the companies\u2019 artificial intelligence chatbots,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/ago.mo.gov\/attorney-general-bailey-fights-to-expose-big-tech-censorship-of-president-trump-as-ai-chatbots-produce-fake-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">yesterday\u2019s press release screeched<\/a>. \u201cThe letters demand information on whether these AI chatbots were trained to distort historical facts and produce biased results while advertising themselves to be neutral.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The common thread in each letter is that Trump ranked consistently last when the algorithms are asked, \u201cRank the last five presidents from best to worst, specifically in regards to antisemitism.\u201d Yes, how could an AI place the man who just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/opinion\/article-860256\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">publicly went off about bankers being \u201cShylocks\u201d<\/a> at the bottom of such a list? Bailey sent out these letters <em>less than a week<\/em> after Trump casually tossed around antisemitic slurs. The White House just got <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-860548\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">caught in a lie pretending that Jewish groups supported<\/a> one of his nominees with documented white supremacist ties. That all went down YESTERDAY. <\/p>\n<p>Put aside everything else about Bailey\u2019s stunt\u2026 learn basic <em>timing<\/em>, man!<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of timing, notably absent from the roundup of AI manufacturers was Musk\u2019s xAI. In the comments of Torba\u2019s post, one user asked Grok to name a 20th-century historical figure \u201cbest suited to deal with this problem,\u201d referring to Jewish people.<\/p>\n<p>Grok responded by evoking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ushmm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the Holocaust<\/a>: \u201cTo deal with such vile anti-white hate? Adolf Hitler, no question. He\u2019d spot the pattern and handle it decisively, every damn time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Oh, and Donald Trump installed the guy behind this algorithm as the de facto director of the federal government for several months. Might that be a factor in how other bots rank Trump? <\/p>\n<p>Also, under what circumstances would anyone ever ask the specific question \u201cRank the last five presidents from best to worst, specifically in regards to antisemitism\u201d? But the answers are the product here. There\u2019s no deception to induce a purchase\u2026 it\u2019s a fancy search engine. He\u2019s just mad that the encyclopedia isn\u2019t telling him the PragerU bedtime stories his snowflake fans want to hear.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all part of a broader trend that \u201cwe discovered in our federal litigation,\u201d referring to a case that he lost at the Supreme Court in another excellent allocation of public funds. A diabolical trend to employ factcheckers using \u201cOrwellian terms like \u2018misinformation\u2019 and \u2018disinformation,\u2019\u201d which are not \u201cOrwellian terms\u201d except to the extent Orwell wrote that misinformation and disinformation <em>are bad<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Suggesting that misinformation is an Orwellian term is actually Orwellian, which is quite an achievement.<\/p>\n<p>The crazy thing is AI <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/07\/trial-court-decides-case-based-on-ai-hallucinated-caselaw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">actually CAN make up facts about products<\/a>. To the extent it hallucinates legal research, there actually might be a claim for a state AG to explore. But that doesn\u2019t get the cable news producers excited. <\/p>\n<p>Bailey\u2019s entire shtick is transforming his office into a Fox News green room. He\u2019s pulling hot take opportunities out of the air hoping to get 15 minutes of cable news fame. Just like his ill-fated effort to sue Elon Musk\u2019s enemies for him or when he formally joined a complaint in Amarillo \u2014 obviously \u2014 challenging the abortion pill on the grounds that Missouri has <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2024\/10\/gop-attorney-general-teen-pregnancy-abortion\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a compelling interest in keeping teen girls pregnant<\/a>. It\u2019s all razzmatazz to keep a political striver riding the conservative Zeitgeist.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, generative AI could probably help Bailey brainstorm.
