[The Trump administration] seems to have a little bit of an ax to grind with [Biglaw]. For us, it\u2019s been trying to stay clear of the kinds of events that have triggered some of the actions, because I don\u2019t think anything good comes out of either negotiating a deal or going to court over an executive order.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re a little careful with executive orders, depending on what it is. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a secret that the strategy that the president has deployed has been pretty effective: Law firms are thinking twice now.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2014 <\/i>John Van Gorp<\/a>, chair of Mayer Brown, in comments given to Bloomberg Law<\/a>, concerning Donald Trump\u2019s retaliatory executive orders<\/a> against Biglaw firms. \u201cWe\u2019re still focused on the rule of law,\u201d Van Gorp went on to say, continuing, \u201cWe\u2019re still here to do work for people who can\u2019t afford legal services. But we also want to be sensitive to what we\u2019re taking on.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> <\/p>\n
