You get to turn decisions into <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2024\/12\/james-ho-supreme-court-birthright-citizenship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">targeted job applications for the Supreme Court<\/a> in hopes that the sitting president will notice you. Hell, if you\u2019re a Supreme enough judge, <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2024\/05\/helpful-field-guide-for-identifying-the-next-flag-at-sam-alitos-house\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">you can even show love to insurrectionists<\/a>! But the bar for punishment is a lot lower for state judges. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law360.com\/articles\/2366422\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Law360 has coverage<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A Florida state court judge found to have violated judicial canons by donating funds to the election campaigns of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden and improperly discussing her own reelection campaign has been hit with a 10-day suspension by the Sunshine State\u2019s high court.<\/p>\n<p>In a per curiam ruling Thursday, the\u00a0Supreme Court of Florida\u00a0suspended Judge Stefanie C. Moon of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, publicly reprimanded her and ordered her to pay a fine of $2,115, equal to the amount of the donations she made to funds associated with the Democratic presidential candidates.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I get the money is speech argument, but the sums that have been found to violate judicial canons just seem ridiculous to me. Nonetheless, dems the rules.
