According to the company, this ensures that third-party AI interactions maintain the same security and auditability standards as native NetDocuments functions.

During a media briefing, CEO Josh Baxter said that the program follows a core principle of keeping “everything securely anchored in the system of record.” This approach eliminates what the company identifies as common security risks associated with downloading files for external AI processing.

The integration supports various use cases including document summarization, contract review, and analysis, with AI-generated outputs automatically saved back to the appropriate locations within the DMS.

NetDocuments built ndConnect on what it describes as a developer-friendly architecture, designed to support both basic document transfer use cases and more complex workflows. The company indicates this foundation will allow for expanded functionality over time.

Beyond the initial partnerships with Harvey and Legora, NetDocuments expects to add additional AI vendors to the program. Baxter noted during the briefing that the company is “actively talking to and working with some additional players in the space” and anticipates bringing “many of the most important AI vendors in legal tech” to the platform.

The launch represents NetDocuments’ broader platform strategy to create what Baxter described as “a pathway for customers and partners to work together on AI-powered use cases that are impactful, secure, and scalable.”

NetDocuments today announced ndConnect, a new interoperability program designed to integrate third-party AI solutions directly into its document management system, starting with partnerships with legal AI vendors Harvey and Legora.
