The historically Black church is suing over trademark infringement, as Metropolitan AME was awarded Proud Boys International\u2019s interest in the \u201cProud Boys\u201d trademark after a 2020 attack by members of Proud Boys.<\/p>\n<p>In a normal world, this is the sort of representation that the firm boasts about but is so uncontroversial that it\u2019s not really \u201cnews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/07\/this-biglaw-firms-chair-is-trying-to-steer-clear-of-trumps-wrath\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">it\u2019s 2025<\/a>, so this qualifies as a Big Deal.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/tag\/executive-orders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">war on Biglaw<\/a>, through <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/07\/trump-wont-give-up-on-his-biglaw-executive-orders-until-he-gets-in-front-of-the-supreme-court\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unconstitutional Executive Orders<\/a> designed <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/03\/bannon-drops-bombshell-trump-wants-to-cripple-elite-law-firms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">to break major law firms<\/a>\u00a0unless they<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/biglaw-is-under-attack-heres-what-the-firms-are-doing-about-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> bend a knee<\/a> to Trump, has already had a tremendous impact on the industry. In the<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/some-biglaw-firms-are-choosing-their-bottom-lines-over-the-costly-defense-of-the-rule-of-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u00a0face of financial harm,\u00a0<\/a> nine major firms <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/kirkland-ellis-wants-to-cave-to-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">sought<\/a>\u00a0Trump\u2019s seal of approval, providing pro bono payola, that is, free legal services on behalf of <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/biglaw-firms-in-league-with-donald-trump-now-have-to-defend-cops-that-kill-black-and-brown-people\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">conservative clients or causes<\/a> in order to avoid Trumpian retribution. Let\u2019s not get too excited though. When it comes to Biglaw bravery, the firms that <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/04\/biglaw-is-under-attack-heres-what-the-firms-are-doing-about-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">refused to ink a deal <\/a>with Trump and are actively fighting the Biglaw EOs in court are at the top of the pyramid. Then the firms<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/07\/an-army-of-lawyers-from-small-firms-are-ready-to-wage-war-against-trumps-bad-legal-policies\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> actively litigating<\/a> against key aspects of Trump\u2019s agenda.
