\u2014 <\/i>Henry Whitaker<\/a>, counselor to the attorney general, in response to a question asked by a judge during arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit<\/a>, concerning Alina Habba\u2019s<\/a> controverial designation as interim US attorney and then acting US attorney by Donald Trump, which circumvented Senate confirmation and judicial appointment processes. Whitaker was asked whether Habba\u2019s designation was \u201cconsistent with longstanding practice\u201d of the Justice Department, and later asked whether he could provide any similar examples of US attorney appointments akin to that of Habba\u2019s. His response, above, left much to be desired before the court.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
