Not once. Not twice. But <em>three<\/em> separate times.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney in question is Sara Baker, who has now been hit with the sort of charge list that reads like someone shook the criminal code and let everything fall out: conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder (in triplicate), distribution of a controlled substance, elder abuse, and domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say Baker began plotting in September, despite being married to her husband \u2014 former Auburn football player Doyle Baker \u2014 for almost 30 years. Doyle had suffered a stroke a few years ago, and Sara <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wvtm13.com\/article\/alabama-cullman-county-attorney-murder-auburn-football\/69570640\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was his caregiver<\/a>, yet according to<a href=\"https:\/\/abc3340.com\/resources\/pdf\/ae7ff214-d1d0-4f57-99f3-a0af10f87b64-e9a7.pdf#toolbar=0&amp;navpanes=0&amp;scrollbar=0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> court documents,<\/a> she served her husband fentanyl \u201cfor a purpose other than lawful medical or therapeutic treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attempts reportedly came in quick succession, on September 4, September 12, and September 20. And despite everything, Doyle survived, though prosecutors say he suffered \u201cphysical impairment\u201d as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Even veteran Alabama attorneys are stunned. As fellow lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/lawandcrime.com\/crime\/attorney-tried-to-kill-husband-with-fentanyl-3-different-times-da-says\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will League put it<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s just sad \u2026 that someone has gone that far and is willing to go to those lengths to do something, you know, especially when they know all the consequences of the laws.\u201d Which is polite Southern-lawyer speak for: <em>What in the actual hell?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s an extra lawyerly twist. One of Sara Baker\u2019s clients, Felisha Nichole Cofield, was charged with tampering after allegedly swallowing fentanyl she thought might tie her to the plot.
