And at this point, folding the special bonuses to the holiday bonus is the current market. People who don\u2019t get bonuses when many of their peers do, are going to be out the door.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong><em><i>\u2014<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlaglobal.com\/en\/people\/kate-reder-sheikh?byconsultantorauthor=kate-reder-sheikh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kate Reder Sheikh<\/a>, a legal recruiter with Major, Lindsey &amp; Africa, in comments given to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.com\/americanlawyer\/2025\/12\/11\/law-firm-disrupted-special-doesnt-mean-optional-when-it-comes-to-bonuses-\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">American Lawyer<\/a>, concerning the \u201csurprising handful\u201d of Am Law 50 firms that reportedly haven\u2019t announced special bonuses with their year-end bonuses, which has been \u201cvery poorly received\u201d by associates. Why wouldn\u2019t a firm match the special bonuses that are now regarded as part of the market rate? \u201cThat\u2019s kind of a million-dollar question, and what associates who are at these firms are asking me,\u201d Sheikh said. \u201c\u2018Do they not care if I leave? Do they not care if a lot of us leave?
