She was the founder of one of the largest woman-owned law firms in the state.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props='\"201341983\":0,\"335559740\":240'>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fAs the president of the\u202fNCBA,\u202fshe\u202fcreated the\u00a0\u201c4ALL\u201d\u00a0program, a groundbreaking initiative that provided\u202ffree legal services to underserved individuals\u202fstatewide.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props='\"201341983\":0,\"335559740\":240'>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/attorneyatlawmagazine.com\/stories\/attorney-feature\/janet-ward-black\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 2024 interview<\/a>,\u202fwe discussed her leadership\u202fstyle\u202fas president of both NCAJ and\u202fNCBA.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props='\"201341983\":0,\"335559740\":240'>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI think the world\u00a0needs visionaries.\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0always been a\u00a0big-picture\u00a0person.\u00a0I think I\u202fhave the opportunity to\u202fenvision solutions or opportunities and hopefully can write them in such a way or create them in such a way that somebody else can make\u00a0good use\u00a0of\u202fthem.<\/span><span data-ccp-props='\"201341983\":0,\"335559740\":240'>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI think they\u00a0look for people who have leadership skills, meaning can you\u00a0come up with\u00a0a plan that\u00a0somebody\u2019s\u00a0willing to follow.\u00a0You can have great ideas all day long, but if\u00a0nobody\u2019s\u00a0willing to get on board with your great ideas,\u202fthat\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0mean that\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0a leader.<\/span><span data-ccp-props='\"201341983\":0,\"335559740\":240'>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI\u2019m\u00a0a\u00a0reasonably good\u00a0storyteller, and I think\u00a0almost every\u00a0great leader\u00a0has got\u00a0to be\u00a0to some extent a\u00a0storyteller because\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0what pulls people in,\u202fis the story.
