If the name rings a bell, it\u2019s probably because she delivered one of the most honest courtroom reviews of the unreasonable work government attorneys are being asked to do in support of the Trumpian immigration policy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/02\/doj-lawyer-asks-to-be-held-in-contempt-so-she-can-sleep\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Back in February<\/a>, the then\u2013Justice Department attorney told a federal judge exactly how she felt about her workload, \u201cThe system sucks, this job sucks.\u201d And, in what may be the most damning line ever uttered in federal court, she added, \u201cI wish you would just hold me in contempt \u2026 so I can get 24 hours of sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The internet loved it. The Justice Department\u2026 less so. She was promptly shown the door. Which didn\u2019t help with the<a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/02\/doj-hiring-ausas-over-twitter-now\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> rapidly depleting<\/a> reserve of <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/02\/emergency-jump-teams-are-dojs-new-plan-to-paper-over-its-self-inflicted-crisis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">government attorneys<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>And now? Well, Le has decided that if you\u2019re going to go viral, you might as well go all the way to Congress. Le has officially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/immigration\/2026\/03\/11\/julie-le-doj-immigration-lawyer-congress-minneapolis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">launched a campaign<\/a> for Congress in Minnesota\u2019s 5th District as a Democrat, challenging incumbent Rep. Ilhan Omar.<\/p>\n<p>According to her <a href=\"https:\/\/julietle4congress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">campaign messaging<\/a>, Le says she \u201chas witnessed firsthand the complexities of our immigration and legal systems\u201d and understands \u201chow broken they are \u2014 and the reforms needed to improve them.\u201d (Which, admittedly, is a slightly more polished version of \u201cthe system sucks.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Le\u2019s background is compelling as a Vietnamese refugee who came to the United States in 1993 and later worked as an immigration prosecutor connected to ICE enforcement operations, she has a unique perspective that she\u2019s taking to voters.
