On a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host turned his attention to the firing of Pam Bondi<\/a>, a departure that, if reports are to be believed, has a whole lot to do with her handling of the Epstein files. You know, the ones that have been released in a fashion best described as \u201cMad Libs, but make it national scandal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert opened with what might be the most efficient takedown of the situation yet. \u201cIn tribute to Pam Bondi, I offer this heartfelt farewell,\u201d he said, holding up a document redacted except for the following: \u201cDear Pam,\u201d and \u201cSincerely, Stephen Colbert.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a joke works because it\u2019s barely an exaggeration. And he didn\u2019t stop there, \u201cSaying that the villain of the Epstein files is Pam Bondi is like saying the lead in \u2018Die Hard\u2019 is the dad from \u2018Family Matters.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Which brings us to the official line from Donald Trump, who announced Bondi would be \u201ctransitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector.\u201d Sure\u2026 but it did let Colbert bust out his Trump impersonation. \u201cIt\u2019s a much-needed job at a very important farm upstate. There\u2019ll be lots of room for her to run around. Unfortunately, we can\u2019t go visit her,\u201d he said. \u201cNow let\u2019s go to the strip mall and get you a new attorney general, buddy.\u201d<\/p>\n
