Market rent in the Los Angeles area wasn\u2019t realistic, even with a job offer lined up. So, the studio became her first home. It gave her stability and independence during a major transition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong><em>\u2014\u00a0 Tina LaMonica, in comments given to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/lifestyle\/story\/2026-04-07\/la-tiny-adu-houses-south-pasadena-young-adult-children-struggling-to-pay-rent\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>, concerning the reasons why her daughter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gibsondunn.com\/lawyer\/wellen-sophie\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sophie Wellen<\/a>, moved into the family\u2019s backyard accessory dwelling unit (ADU) rather than pay egregious rent prices in Los Angeles.
