I feel terrible for those lawyers and firms that have found themselves on the wrong side of this issue in court\u2014it must be very frustrating and concerning. But I\u2019m determined that we put in place every measure we can to ensure that that does not happen.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As lawyers, we\u2019re professionals. It\u2019s our responsibility before we file something to make sure that it says what we cite it for, that it exists. That was true before AI \u2026 you make sure it was accurately cited. I don\u2019t think anything is happening that hasn\u2019t happened before.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0 Liz Washko<\/a>, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins, in comments given to the Daily Report<\/a>, concerning AI hallucinations of nonexistent case citations sneaking their way into court filings, and what the lawyers at her firm are doing to make sure it doesn\u2019t happen to them. Washko went on to say that when it comes to AI, her firm has policies to make sure attorneys \u201cunderstand what they\u2019re expected to do and not to do,\u201d and that Ogletree is \u201ctaking additional steps to ensure that we\u2019re complying with those.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
