This year, the competition was superb \u2014 and for the seventeenth edition of this contest, we decided to narrow down the competition to the top three videos.<\/p>\n<p>Not only were these law students able to carry a tune (for the most part), but they also had excellent comedic timing, and provided us with professional-grade production values. Our finalists\u2019 videos were an absolute joy with some musical theater hits, providing an excellent soundtrack for this year\u2019s law revue stylings.<\/p>\n<p>This year, your reviewers will be <span>Staci Zaretsky<\/span>, <span>Joe Patrice<\/span>, <span>Kathryn Rubino<\/span>, and <span>Chris Williams<\/span>. We issue only advisory opinions; you hold all the power.<\/p>\n<p>Who will follow the winners of years past into the annals of Law Revue history? It\u2019s up to you, our readers! Do the right thing: vote early, and vote for the best.<\/p>\n<p>Before we get to the finalists, we have a wonderful honorable mention that we need to celebrate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GW \u2014 GRANT MY 403 MOTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><span>STACI<\/span><\/strong>: WOW, can these GW law students sing! From the creative lyrics to the near-perfect harmonies, I really, <em>really<\/em> liked this one a lot. Great job!<br \/><strong><span>JOE<\/span><\/strong>: Viewers should receive CLE credit for this one. The dancing is limited, but with singing this good the motion can be in limine.<br \/><strong><span>KATHRYN<\/span><\/strong>: If only you could learn all of criminal procedure like this.<br \/><strong><span>CHRIS<\/span><\/strong>: The goriest Law Revue submission I\u2019ve heard in the years I\u2019ve worked at ATL. Encore! Encore!<\/p>\n<p>Now, onto the finalists! These videos are listed in alphabetical order by school. Voting will close on\u00a0<strong>FRIDAY, MAY 8, at 10 AM\u00a0<\/strong>(Eastern time).<\/p>\n<p><strong>GW \u2014 HELD 6-3<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><span>STACI<\/span><\/strong>: Live performances are usually the kiss of death for our law revue contest but as a Broadway lover, this on-point Dear Evan Hansen parody really hit the mark for me. With lyrics like \u201cstare decisis, we don\u2019t really give a shit,\u201d this one is especially relevant as the Supreme Court Term draws to a close with major cases hanging in the balance. <br \/><strong><span>JOE<\/span><\/strong>: Maybe it\u2019s just me, but at this point, Supreme Court parodies have achieved \u201cNot the Onion\u201d\u00a0status \u2014 that condition that plagued the satirical paper about a decade ago when reality started overtaking its jokes (thankfully, the paper more than upped its game). It\u2019s so hard to land a joke when the Supreme Court itself has all but given up the charade.<br \/><strong><span>KATHRYN<\/span><\/strong>: I guess it helps to laugh at the hellscape the 6-3 Supreme Court hath wrought. <br \/><strong><span>CHRIS<\/span><\/strong>: Very campy. I\u2019d cast my vote for this one, but there\u2019s no real point after<em> Louisiana v. Callais<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NYU \u2014 1L GOING ON 2L<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><span>STACI<\/span><\/strong>: From the singing to the lyrics to the dancing (I see a nice shuffle ball change in there), I thought this one was really well done. Excellent work!<br \/><strong><span>JOE<\/span><\/strong>: Fantastic work. Even got a Lexis AI reference in there. And the knife twist closing shows solid comedic instincts.<br \/><strong><span>KATHRYN<\/span><\/strong>: The Sound of Music pastiche was so on point I half expected a thunderstorm.<br \/><strong><span>CHRIS<\/span><\/strong>: Very whimsical! Did Nazi the twist coming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TULSA \u2014 THE ATL LAW GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><span>STACI<\/span><\/strong>: I was really excited to watch this one, I really was. I\u2019m sorry to say that I wasn\u2019t that big of a fan. I\u2019m not mad at you, Tulsa, I\u2019m just disappointed.<br \/><strong><span>JOE<\/span><\/strong>: Where are there dolphins in Tulsa? Much like the above \u201cNot the Onion\u201d problem, this lawyer commercial aims for over-the-top, but have you seen some of the lawyer ads out there? Nothing about this strays all that far from some real lawyer ads.<br \/><strong><span>KATHRYN<\/span><\/strong>: Whatever, I\u2019ll always be a sucker for a Law Revue entry that knows its audience. <br \/><strong><span>CHRIS<\/span><\/strong>: Screw the rating.
