When they don\u2019t have their noses to the page, many of them spend their time showing solidarity with causes they think need their support. And it isn\u2019t just for <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2024\/10\/so-much-for-free-speech-harvard-law-students-punished-for-reading-together-at-campus-library\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">causes abroad<\/a>. Striking graduate students are a local issue that they\u2019re showing growing support for. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2026\/5\/5\/hls-student-hgsu-letter\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Crimson<\/a> has coverage:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Roughly 200 first-year Harvard Law School students \u2014 more than a third of the class \u2014 have signed letters supporting Harvard graduate student workers\u2019 strike and urging their professors to press the University to reach an agreement with HGSU-UAW, according to central organizer and first-year law student Matthew T. Tyler.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Five of the Law School\u2019s seven first-year sections \u2014 academic cohorts of roughly 80 students who take the same core classes \u2014 have sent letters to their section professors\u2026The letters call on Harvard to reach a fair contract with the graduate student union and ask section faculty to sign onto a faculty statement supporting HGSU-UAW and HAW-UAW strike action.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Faculty have also shown support; over a hundred committed to not replacing the striking students with new workers. I\u2019d like to think that each of them muttered \u201cFuck scabs\u201d in the most erudite way possible as they signed, but as it stands there\u2019s been no reporting on that tidbit. <\/p>\n<p>Given the sizeable support for the student union, it\u2019ll be harder for Harvard Law students to beat the leftist accusations.
