There\u2019s been coverage by those in the know, along with a long-form video deep dive on the legal ins and outs of the case that\u2019s been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ylcqbCQ9tfU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">posted since February<\/a>. But the suit has been making headlines since Pattie chose to go public with her fight against the clothes retailer. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2026\/05\/28\/pattie-gonia-patagonia-lawsuit\/90291385007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">USA Today<\/a> has coverage:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In January, Patagonia filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/72169060\/patagonia-inc-v-entrepreneur-enterprises-inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">lawsuit<\/a> against Pattie, whose offstage name is Wyn Wiley, for $1 plus attorneys\u2019 fees.<\/p>\n<p>The company alleged that Pattie is appropriating the Patagonia brand after she filed a trademark application for the name \u201cPattie Gonia\u201d in September 2025.<br \/>\u2026<br \/>Pattie\u2019s trademark application, if approved, would allow the performer to use the name \u201cPattie Gonia\u201d for branded products, drag show promotions and other purposes. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The $1 in damages could be read as clever lede burying by Patagonia \u2014 the real damage would be the six- to seven-figure cost of covering the clothing giant\u2019s lawyers\u2019 fees anyway. It could also be a de minimis kindness \u2014 they could have bumped that number up and gone for shares of sold merchandise if they really wanted to hit Gonia in the pocketbook. Instead, suing for just the dollar and lawyers\u2019 fees shows that they are trying to protect their IP while doing minimal harm.
