Combating the attack on the rule of law means fighting back on several fronts. Advocacy<\/a> and legal push back<\/a> are the obvious progs to resisting, but there also needs to be study. Attention to the rule of law, people\u2019s (justified) belief in the efficacy of courts and how often the government follows court orders<\/a> benefits us, but it also benefits future Americans passionate about making sure our representative democracy doesn\u2019t slip into a cult-of-personality-fueled dictatorship. National Jurist<\/a> has coverage on a gift that will ensure that commitment is well funded in the time to come:<\/p>\n

James E. Beasley School of Law has received a commitment of $5 million to create the Oller Center for the Rule of Law\u2026 The gift is from Richard Oller,\u00a0J.D. \u201979, and his wife Amy and their children, Benjamin Oller and Rebecca Oller.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Center for the Rule of Law can help sustain that momentum and deepen Temple Law\u2019s commitment to educating lawyers who are grounded in fairness, equity and public service, while drawing on the full depth of Temple\u2019s other colleges and departments in education, history, communications, economics and beyond; from Philadelphia and Temple campuses in Japan and Italy,\u201d Oller said.<\/p>\n

The gift will let the school offer financial aid to students and fund fellowships for graduates and professors doing research in the center. <\/p>\n

A budding rule of law center in the same city that the Constitution was signed has a great ring to it. In addition to the place, it is hard to imagine a better time. It seems like there are history-book level rule of law events happening every day:<\/p>\n
