Never.\u201d The tag: \u201cDon\u2019t be like Larry. Don\u2019t miss out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As it turns out, Larry people should have taken his advertising character quite literally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nine months later, with FTX a smoking crater, and Bankman-Fried was on his way to a 25-year sentence, all the celebrities who starred in ads for the platform \u2014 Tom Brady, Gisele B\u00fcndchen, Shaquille O\u2019Neal, Naomi Osaka, and, obviously, Larry David \u2014 were <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/318628\/tom-brady-larry-david-mostly-cleared-ftx-lawsuit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">named defendants in a class action<\/a> accusing them of hawking unregistered securities to people who lost everything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lw.com\/en\/people\/andrew-clubok\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Latham\u2019s Andrew Clubok<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clubok, the global chair of Latham &amp; Watkins\u2019 securities litigation practice, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/business-and-practice\/nfls-brady-under-legal-siege-for-ftx-turns-to-latham-for-help\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">represented Larry and others in the case<\/a>. In May 2025, Judge K. Michael Moore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/law\/analysis\/2025\/tom-brady-shohei-ohtani-ftx-lawsuit-mostly-dismissed-1234851774\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tossed 12 of the 14 claims<\/a>, ruling that being \u201cuninformed, negligent, or even reckless\u201d about a crypto exchange is not the same as knowing it was a fraud. Potter<\/a>. The episode restages the Army-McCarthy hearings, with David playing Joe McCarthy and Michael McKean as Army counsel Joseph Welch, the man who finally asked, \u201cHave you no sense of decency?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The McCarthy hearings are the ur-text of American lawyers shredding constitutional order. That\u2019s the room that gave us Roy Cohn \u2014 McCarthy\u2019s chief counsel and Donald Trump\u2019s mentor and fixer \u2014 the legal profession\u2019s patron saint of bad faith.
