When Herbert Smith Freehills and Kramer Levin announced they were joining forces<\/a> last year, the firms promised the combination would create a transatlantic powerhouse<\/a> capable of competing with the biggest names in Biglaw. Now, we\u2019ve got our first look at whether that bet is paying off.<\/p>\n

As noted by Reuters<\/a>, HSF Kramer reported $2.407 billion in revenue for the financial year ending April 30, marking its first annual financial results since the merger officially launched in June 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The firm says the integration has gone even better than expected. Global CEO Justin D\u2019Agostino said HSF Kramer exceeded its financial targets in its first year, with revenues coming in \u201cmore than double the target set at the time of the combination.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those numbers matter beyond one firm\u2019s balance sheet. As we\u2019ve previously covered, HSF Kramer was an early participant in a wave of transatlantic law firm combinations. Since then, we\u2019ve seen Winston & Strawn combine<\/a> with Taylor Wessing, Ashurst merge<\/a> with Perkins Coie, and Hogan Lovells complete its blockbuster tie-up<\/a> with Cadwalader. Firms on both sides of the Atlantic are clearly betting that bigger is better when it comes to serving multinational clients and expanding in the lucrative U.S. legal market.<\/p>\n

HSF Kramer now says its focus is on continuing to grow in areas including energy, private capital, restructuring, and class action defense. If the firm\u2019s first-year financials are any indication, the merger honeymoon appears to be lasting a little longer than most. Congratulations!<\/p>\n
