Savitt brings Sarah Eddy, Randall Jackson, Ryan McLeod, Anitha Reddy, and Bradley Wilson with him. He\u2019ll co-chair Gibson Dunn\u2019s litigation practice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wachtell generally doesn\u2019t lose partners. Something about the per partner profits figure running north of $12 million keeps people in the fold. So it takes a lot to get these lawyers to cross the road and Gibson Dunn was apparently willing to pay it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/65731780-37da-4e4f-b5f4-eeaed28bcea2?accessToken=zwAAAZ-r4m-Ukc9lcxeAN9pOT9O19O6u0ovOog.MEQCIBsc7aB3S_0xtb454mX1EmXac2hEImSDQPLesZe8qdoGAiA_yUEJNO0N6vfEZFmgVEy_VbT_HepdrDWAgf0bChoUJQ&amp;segmentId=e95a9ae7-622c-6235-5f87-51e412b47e97&amp;shareId=7f400296-477d-458e-9850-34ff4bf12ab2&amp;shareType=enterprise&amp;syn-25a6b1a6=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Financial Times<\/a> tucked a more interesting little tidbit into the story \u2014 which <a href=\"https:\/\/davidlat.substack.com\/p\/tom-goldstein-sentenced-wachtell-lipton-kiss-susman-godfrey-grant-cardone\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">we saw in David Lat\u2019s roundup<\/a> \u2014 about how this deal was SUPPOSED to include seven partners:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group of defectors would have included Wachtell partner Nathaniel Cullerton, but his hiring was scrapped after he was filmed in a viral TikTok video in an apparent romantic embrace with a colleague last week, the people said. Cullerton had been placed on a leave of absence from Wachtell pending further investigation, some of the people added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So\u2026 we might know what Cullerton and his associate friend were celebrating last week. One wonders if the original deal included bringing her over as an associate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be clear, that video is deeply problematic. Antagonizing strangers and putting it on social media for profit is despicable behavior and the fact that it seems to work is a damning indictment of modernity. We said <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/07\/biglaw-partner-associate-public-makeout-sesh-posted-on-social-media\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">when it was still a blind item<\/a> that nobody involved covered themselves in glory. After <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/07\/makeout-video-elevates-wachtell-to-the-internets-main-character\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">everyone else un-blinded it<\/a>, we noted that content creators who ambush people shouldn\u2019t be handed an audience for it. All of that still holds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, it is newsworthy that a partner got sliced out of a mega deal over this. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wachtell is having a rough year. <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/04\/kirkland-lures-wachtells-top-restructuring-lawyer-with-an-80m-incentive-to-jump-ship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kirkland pried loose Wachtell\u2019s top restructuring lawyer in April<\/a> with an $80 million package. A former associate also <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/05\/the-wachtell-insider-trading-co-conspirator-has-been-identified\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">surfaced in May as \u201cCC-2\u201d<\/a> in the Biglaw insider trading indictments.
